Spark Delight in Your Employees: July Employee Recognition Dates

With summer kicking into high gear, July is all about barbecues, fireworks and trips to the beach or lake. But while Independence Day is the most famous July holiday, it’s not the only one worthy of celebration.

In fact, July is the perfect time of year to show employees and the other workers in your life that they matter. Work tends to slow down as summer hits its peak. It costs little to nothing to share a word of thanks or offer a small gift to the people who keep your business and life running smoothly.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to show recognition to the important people in your life, consider these July holidays:

July 1: National Postal Worker Day; International Day of Cooperatives:

  • National Postal Worker Day—“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” Postal workers are our unsung heroes, braving the elements (not to mention angry dogs) to bring us packages and birthday cards from grandma. On National Postal Workers Day, say thank you—or share a small token of appreciation like a CardSnacks e card—with the postal workers in your life.

  • International Day of Cooperatives—In 2023, International Day of Cooperatives marks its centennial anniversary. First recognized by the United Nations in 1995, International Day of Cooperatives is designed to increase awareness of the contributions of the cooperative movement both to resolving major international issues and to enhancing the economic, social, cultural and political advancement of the community. Consider joining a food coop or even starting one of your own.

Remember: People most often leave jobs not because of compensation but because they feel underappreciated. Take time out this summer to show hard-working individuals that you appreciate all they do—it won’t cost you much and it creates goodwill that will pay dividends all year long!
